Hospital Director
Dr. Jennifer Thompson (aka Dr. Jen) is the proud new owner of both Glen Erin Animal Hospital and Meadowvale Animal Clinic.
Dr. Thompson has known that she would be a veterinarian since she was 9 years old. The driving reason then and now is her love of all animals. As a consequence, over the years she has cared for and functioned as staff for many dogs, a dozen cats and a variety of birds, rabbits, hamsters, tortoises, turtles and one mouse. These personal and emotional experiences have made her an empathetic and compassionate veterinarian.
Dr. Thompson’s practice philosophy is to provide the best possible care to her patients by maintaining high standards and being able to effectively communicate information and options to clients. She has found that sincerity and hard work are essential to building trust.
Dr. Thompson has practiced high quality small animal and exotic medicine and surgery since graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2003. She has practiced in several veterinary clinics in Vancouver and the GTA. She returned to the University of Guelph in 2007 to pursue graduate training in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology while continuing to practice as a veterinarian throughout the program. She obtained her PhD in 2012, contributing valuable published information about canine mast cell tumours, which is a common and often fatal skin tumour in dogs. She successfully passed the American College of Veterinary Pathologists (ACVP) board certification exam the following year. These experiences have made her a much more skillful and insightful doctor.
Dr. Thompson currently shares her home with a Border Collie (Emily), two Golden Retrievers (Gracie and Katie) and two cats Todd and Cora Lee.
